I am quite disgusted with some of the clothes marketed to young girls - even toddlers. In NZ a few months ago, the Jay-jays store were selling T-shirts with Mr-Men type character (and little-miss for girls) with characters like Mr Well Hung, and Mr Stoned. These were in sizes from toddler to teen!!!! Very inappropriate and after public outcry were pulled from the shelves very quickly.

i so agree i use to make my kids clothes and now do so for my grandies even buy them second hand but i am still shocked at these parents who think nothing of buying high end priced, all i can say is they must have more money than sense
Try Second Hand
7 July 2008 - 8:15am — sus-123What is wrong with buying second hand I say!!! Most of my children's clothes are second hand - Urban Angel, Pumpkin Patch, Jag, Oshkosh etc. Why pay $50 a item, when you can pay $5. My children (and I - I have to admit) have the absolute best wardrobes. At least half their clothes are brilliant quality designer which I've picked up for basically nothing. My kids look like million dollar kids - which enables me to spend my money on things like HOLIDAYS. Just got back from the snow (which was WONDERFUL).
Sus
PS: If you're concerned about people wearing the clothes before you buy them, a lot of clothes you buy have been 'worn'/tried on anyway (my friend works in retail. It's common for the shop assistants (and their families) to wear the clothes that they sell, then get them cleaned and back on the racks via being re-badged).

I don't have kids so i'm not in the same boat. However when shopping around for Lily I usually bought a set (tops and trousers) for a reasonable price. Things are expensive but I don't mind paying $20 - $25 for a little set.
This week I'll be making a trip to target to get Bridget (Bel's daughter) a set of clothes for her birthday, but they'll be in a size 2 and she should wear them for awhile.

When my kids were little i made most of their clothes, so no, i didn't.
And i would never dress my girls in anything skimpy. Even with them as teenagers now, i don't let them leave the house wearing anything risky.
And to be honest, none of my friends would either. Having said that, times are changing, not sure its for the better tho.

I agree the prices of the clothes are so over the top...and they are only in them a short perriod of time till they need a bigger size.

Hi Luvin
As our mother would say they make a rod for their own back. It is the young ones who select the brand names and nothing else. I could never afford it and certainly would not encourage it. I think it should be banned. It still leaves kids open to harassment because if their parent's can't afford or choose not to buy the brands name clothes they are still penalised for it.

I agree, some of the clothing i dont belive is suitable for such a young child. i am glad i have a boy, the clothes dont seem as bad. I would never buy a fashion label for a child, they only destroy them playing and grow out of them. Nope, the cheapest stuff does Eric fine
