I reckon you can't beat putting a towel over your head while breathing in steam from a few drops of Eucalytus & Menthol in hot water - clears sinuses!
My hubby and I both have a lot of trouble with sinus (the joys of living in the country and working in the grain industry). My MIL bought us both Olbas inhalhers and they work a charm. (and they're only a few dollars from the health food store - basically they just have oils in it that you sniff).

Hope you feel better soon Smiling

Some useful herbs vitamins and their dosages:

Usual dosage:
Garlic, 400-600 mg four times daily. Should be taken with food.

Echinacea, 200 mg four times daily.

Slippery elm, drink as a herbal tea, one teaspoon per cup of hot water is used. Slippery elm can be combined or substituted with root of marshmallow herb.

Vitamin A, until symptoms improve, take 25,000 IU two times daily. If you need take it after seven days, the dosage should be reduce to 10,000 IU daily. If you consider pregnancy, do not exceed 5,000 IU daily.

Vitamin C, 1,000 mg thrice daily. If diarrhea develops, reduce the dose.

Zinc, one lozenge every three or four hours. 150 mg of zinc daily from all sources should not be exceeded.

Its:
Andrographis

Yes its no fun being sick as I am getting over another virus and it can cost you a fortune on medication.

i buy a horrible herbal potion from a naturopath. it is made with androphagis, licorice root and other goodies (tastes vulgar), but works a treat. It is the only thing that kills my stubborn cough., or cold, or sore throat. I think her website is medicineroom.net.au (Her name is Dominique Finney). Costs $35 for a decent bottle that lasts me ages..(She's also at the Eumundi Markets).

Hi Faye, I can give my sympathy as I too have had this virus for close to 3 months now and it is not showing any signs of going away.

Have you tried Difflam Forte Anti Inflammatory throat spray? I use this as it is about the only one that works for me when I get strep throat. It costs around the $15 mark from most chemists .... make sure it is the dark green pack as the others are not as strong.

I ended up in the hospital on Sunday morning after a really bad night and my husband just would not take no for an answer. I have to admit that they were fantastic and I had many blood tests and 2 lots of chest X-Rays and now have to see and ENT specialist in a couple of weeks. Not looking forward to that I can tell you, but I know it is needed.

I don't know that I would go down the road of so many Vit. C tablets as I remember being told years ago that you can make problems for yourself by over dosing and sometimes too much Vit. C can give you the runs. That would be the last thing you would need on top of this virus in my opinion. Sticking out tongue

Good luck and I hope we are both feeling better soon. Smiling
