11608 members but where are they???

Pudding's picture

Its been 12 weeks since any one has introduced themselves as new members. When i first joined this website at the beginning of the year plenty of women used this site.

So whats changed??

There would be lucky to be 20 active members on this site.

So what happens if this keeps up??Will the site close?

Im not one for blogging much or talking about myself but i do enjoy the recipe section and seeing whats happening. And of course the games and quizzies.

I do like the idea of a special members area but unfortunatly i would feel very left out as i could not afford anything and am sure there would be others who feel the same, belive me i would if i could. I would suggest instead making it for those who have reached the status of betalifer as generally these are people who do contribute on a regular basis. It may also get others blogging more so that they can reach that status and gain entry

Hi Benn and Renee, a special members area that is paid for could be great. There are enough of us here to support that idea. Smiling

I agree with Kellie regarding the comps and prizes. There is no need for big expensive prizes and also instead of giving the top 10 or top 20 all a prize, maybe it could just be a ramdom prize for the best entry of the month or just someone's name plucked out of the hat prize.

Regardless of the prize or how you decide to do the competitioins I also think that the comps do not need to be every month or even every second month as that has to create a lot of extra work and expense for you. Why not just spring them on us as a surprise and let it be a random act.

Anyway these are just my thoughts, someone else might have other thoughts on the matter. Laughing out loud

Good ideas Benn, however once funds do start coming in, perhaps only have a comp every couple of months or don't have the prizes as expensive as the ipods were etc it may help tide over awhile longer. Anyway I can't wait to see what happens, changes are exciting Smiling

New ideas for Betalife

Thank you all for your positive responses. I love the idea of a cookbook, and would love to start doing the competitions again. The competitions only stopped for a lack of funds, so we will get them going again as soon as we can get a revenue stream going again.

We are going to put some thought into how we can re-invigorate the site. The main things I want to do are:

- Move back to our original format of "health and lifestyle" content,
- Introduce a revenue source, like advertising or a special members area.

Once the money starts to come in:
- Develop new recipes
- Introduce experts to write new articles regularly
- Start the competitions again

I will keep you updated as we make progress! Smiling

You are right Faye, I have been thinking along the same lines. Sad but true the competitions cetainly kept a lot here but that really is sad when you think about it.

Yes we all like to get a prize or gift, but hell there is just so much more to be had from this site than a freeby, or at least I think so anyway.

As for Lee, she did post not long ago and told us that she is going through a seperation/divorce. So she has a lot on her plate at present. Sad

I know that I am not posting nearly as much as I was but for the past 3 months I have been so sick and when I get home from work I am just too tired to be bothered most days. Fighting illness has sapped me of the will to participate lately, although I do still read the posts and when I feel up to it I post a few comments.

I think once the weather warms up again we will see a few regulars back. Smiling I hope so anyway. Smiling

Good luck Faye with your packing. Smiling

hate to say it but when the comps stopped

Hey Liz, a cookbook is a fantastic idea Smiling even a downloadable one in pdf format in the same style as a book. A lot cheaper to create (only need time) and money can be gained for Benn and Renee.

Perhaps at the start of spring people will start thinking about their swimmers and how they will look at the beach, etc.. and then we might see more of people on the site. I know for myself I have been a little slack through winter and not blogging as much as I did when I 1st joined. It isn't any reflection on the site itself as far as I'm concerned, it's just the winter blues get hold of you and you tend to get a little slack.
Thank you Benn & Renee for this wonderful site, just thought I'd let you know I appreciate it.
Good Luck
Christine Smiling
