Why a diary is so important

Tomorrow is weigh in day for me and am concerned about what the scales will say, so concered that  i could not help myself, i had to hop on the scales this morning.

I was a bit disapointed at the number, i had lost only 300g. This is a big difference to what i lost the weeks before. At first i was saying 'This is not fair, i worked hard' But i sat down and looked through my diary.

I was reminded of what bad things i had eaten. I now realise my body can not tollerate fatty foods, even in small quantities. I have eaten 2 bacon and egg mcmuffins, a few pieces of zucchini slice, 1 piece choc cake, about 4 little vol-o-vonts and 2 slices of vegimite toast as a snack after my breakfast. I guess it all adds up.

So, for me, keeping a diaryis essential. This is the only way i can keep controle of what is happening. Coincidently, i had missed about 4 days writting in my diary this week aswell.

But, i still have today before i officially weigh in- last chance training! i hope its not raining today (still to dark to know whats happening)

Yes Nick, I agree that a food diary is essential and for me personally so is keeping track of how many calories I eat per day.. If I go above 1000 -1200 calories per day I put on weight.
Good luck

I keep a food and exercise diary as well. And i also write my emotions in it.

I find it really helps me.

oohh nick! If I kept a food diary today... I think it will be full! I haven't stopped eating... and it is because I have stopped recording.

You are right. It is really important to be honest with yourself and record everything.

Maybe you and I will both have a better week this week.

Hi Nick
I think that keeping your diary is important to yourself. Even the days that you missed out could have the reasons for your weight gain. Plus it is very interesting reading from in the future.

Hi Nick,

I totally agree with you 100% about keeping a food diary. I thought now that I am maintaining I would not bother, however a kilo has crept on over the last 2 weeks. We have had an exceptionally busy social life these last 2 weeks with much eating and drinking, however I do know if I am accountable at the end of each day to read just what I have put into my mouth, I think twice.

So to-day the diary is back in place on the kitchen bench.

We are heading off to Cairns for 2 weeks so I certainly don't need to be 1kg heavier before we begin.

I hope your weigh-in to-morrow gives you at least 0.5kg loss. That is certainly much better than nothing at all.
