Lucky girl Suzi, Kuala Lumpur sounds like a place I would love.
I bet your blood boiled when your glasses could not be found, I know mine would have. I am looking for a nice Lanyard to wear and attatch my glasses too for when I am not wearing them - mainly for work as I don't always have pockets in my uniform shirts.
Nick some of the glasses you can buy for magnification purposes are great and look great but the only thing that would worry me was any underlying problem that would only be found by going and having a proper eye test done.
My father was legally blind in the last 10 years of his life and the cause was Glaucoma and that really needs to be checked by a professional who knows what to look for.
If the cost of the frames is the problem maybe you could buy some from the thrift shop and just have the lenses changed that would save a lot of money and maybe also prevent something major. Anyway it is just a thought.
frameless glasses
21 August 2008 - 2:25am — suziQHi Netta,
I understand your gripe re the cost of glasses.
I wear totally frameless glasses which are horribly expensive. There are no frames at all, so I can't understand how they cost so much.
I recently left mine on the table at the Club, realised first thing next morning that I didn't have them, but after several phone calls to the Club they were never handed in. Apparently there are people who never buy their own glasses, but simply have their own presription lenses replaced into the "found" glasses.
So now I guard my glasses as closely as I do my wallet.
By the way, last week in Kuala Lumpur I replaced the lost glasses at a fraction of their cost here in Oz.

I can not for the life of me understand why glasses frames are so expensive!! there is not much to them, i have seen other small delicate metal items cost a lot less than that so why glassess? especially when you need to add on the cost of the lense which cost is more justified. All this does is force those who just can not afford glasses to go to a shop and buy the cheap glasses off the shelf which is what my mother has had to do for years.
Anyway, thats my rant over lol. i think it is best to get ones that make you feel good, especially if you will be wearing them all time or close to it anyway

Yes they can be very expensive if you don't have a health fund.I have been wearing classes or contact lenses for all my life.
