| I don't know what I have been doing right or whether its getting close to the change of season, but I have been waking up nice and early for the past two days and it's such a nice change! Not just waking up early, waking up feeling refreshed too - that is the biggest change.
Have started to do the 10 minute betalife exercise then instead, it is such a nice way to start the day. It is just so peaceful early on, and somehow it just makes you feel more alive within yourself.
Afterwards, I pour myself a mug of warm water, with a slice of lemon and just sit looking out the window and contemplating the world. Have been trying to repeat lots of positive statements about what I want, and go over my goals in my head. Then...the day begins and I never seem to think about myself again for a very long time - LOL! But its good while it lasts.

If there is one food that didn’t deserve all of the bad publicity, it would have to be the egg. For years, it became the sinful food that was out of bounds for dieters and a definite no-go for those with high cholesterol.
We have always praised its benefits, and for years studies have been agreeing yet somehow, many people are yet to catch up.
So it’s interesting to see a study, due to be released in the June edition of journal of Nutrition and Food Science, that has analysed 71 research papers and reference documents all based on the nutritional value of eggs.
By all accounts, it is reported that eggs are indeed a low calorie, excellent source of protein that are also packed with essential vitamins and nutrients. In particular, they are rich in essential amino acids, and vitamins including Vitamin D, B12, selenium and choline. They are also full of antioxidants, which are vital for good health.
The findings also suggest that 1-2 eggs a day have no impact on cholesterol levels.
I must point out the study was funded by the British Egg Industry Council, however this doesn’t change anything. Eggs can play a really important role in weight loss and good health, so don’t be afraid of them. They may be just the addition you are needing in your diet to keep you feeling healthy and satisfied for longer.

| Starting to get used to this ... feeling great and energised and yesterday was a good test for me, as I have been eating so well, my hubby is of Dutch origin, and he made some croquettes. Basically minced up beef, a roux, red wine, bay leaves garlic... and then its rolled into logs and then crumbed and fried, then served with mustard. OMG...
LOL, I cannot believe how bad I felt after eating them. Just really heavy and stodgy. They did, btw, taste pretty good, but I didnt like the mouth feel of the fried food. It didnt satisfy me like the crunch of carrots or celery or pink lady apple.
I am glad.
Today was a good day, had a roast beef and salad wrap for lunch, lots of water and for dinner I decided to make quinoa instead of rice. It has more protien and is one of those superfoods, along with broccoli, salmon and berries, so I thought, well... I eat all of the other things so might as well go the whole hog and try quinoa.
Verdict, four double thumbs up.
Dave , the girls (Miss 5 and Miss 4) and myself thought it was great. Nice texture, nice mild nuttiness flavour and doesnt feel quite as heavy as when you have rice.
Anyway, lots of different foods to try on the kids, this last week I have been putting CHia seeds into everything, cereal, pancakes, sprinkling it on banana on toast... pretty much od-ing really. lol
If I can give my kids anything that they can take with them for the rest of their life it is a well tried palate, and the knowledge of what makes their bodies function well and how to be healthy, by living a healthy lifestyle.
They are sleeping so much better and I know it is because they get lots of protein at night, and they walk to and from school and it seriously tires them out. That way they wake up happier and more refreshed and much more co-operative.
Sigh... Life is good.
oh, and Chase is growing a tooth and if he bites me one more time.... sheeeeesh.

I have always wondered how a person who gets depression frequently could be diagnosed with Post Natal Depression because isn't depression the same thing no matter when you get it, just with many different symptoms for each individual. Well I was niave and yes for me it does differ.
I have just been diagnosed with it and I really want to not have it. I know that many people get it and I feel every bit of compassion for all the women who have gone before me and gone through this. But, when it comes to me I feel that I am weak for allowing my mental state to get to this point. As I said I don't think this of anyone else, it is just myself that I beat up.
For me the differing factor is the levels of anxiety that I now have and the quickness that the dark thoughts have hit with such force. Ah yeah - and the energy levels. I feel exhausted. Getting moving on any given day is just soooo.... hard. I have been trying and trying to fight through it and in some ways I think that I am really quite active compared with how my body feels but I think that I need to do more to try and get through it. I have so many issues to sort through, some the same as what I normally go through with depression and a whole mixed bag of new ones and I really want to sort through them but it just becomes overwhelming and I don't know where to start. I really need to stop and do some to do lists like so many of the discussions on here have talked about.
I start seeing a new psychologist this Thursday so I am hoping that A: I hit it off with her and feel comfortable because there will be crying involved B: I walk out with some new strategies to start fighting this. |

The way people treat you is important, but not as important as how you treat yourself.
A person I was dealing with recently had done something badly. Now this thing they did badly was not going to ruin the world or anything terrible like that. But naturally, they needed to be told this should thing should be improved.
Well the reaction when they were told was nothing short of a full blown war! This person actually believed that because they made a small mistake in a technical task, it represented a major flaw with them as a human being.
Many tears and angry words later I realized the problem. Self esteem is internal. Put another way, self esteem is created by yourself. Imagine the reverse situation, if I had praised this person for what they did They would have walked around all day feeling invincible and like the king of the world.
All well and good you might think, and of course, there is nothing wrong with taking a compliment. But self esteem is not whether someone said something nice to you today, and it is not whether someone said something nasty to you today. Self esteem is how you feel about yourself and you have total control over it!
The revelation here is, do you need a person to say you look nice today for your self esteem to be taken higher? Well I have news for you, you cannot guarantee someone will say this to you today! What this all means is that self esteem must come from the inside. It is something you must believe yourself. You should not have to hear it from other people, because that is not a reflection of your true self esteem, but of a single moment in time. Find your own ways to become happy with who you are and develop the skills you believe are important.
There are many ways to improve your internal self esteem. One way to do this is goal setting. As you feel achievement in your desired goals it will build your self esteem Yes it is really as simple as that! Another way is to analyse your own life to make sure you are fulfilling your dreams. One way to do this it to pretend you have only 6 months to live, and make a list of all the things you want to do. Then from this list start to work toward achieving some of these important dreams. Achieving dreams improves your self esteem.
Most importantly, remember the opinions of others do not count! You might need to modify your behaviour in certain situations, but overall, you have control to do what you want to do and be what you want to be. Once you realize this, you really can do anything your heart desires!
Actions for this week:
- Review your goals, are there any personal goals you need to add?
- Write a list of the things you want to do before you die and start on them!
- Realise you can achieve your dreams and work towards them
- Do not get upset when someone criticizes you, take control!
